I was born in 1957 in Leningrad, Russia (former USSR).
I received education from The Secondary Art School of The USSR Academy of Fine Arts and The Estonian State Art Institute, Tallinn.
From childhood I was raised in the vibrant atmosphere that was full of life and art of my father’s friends (well known artists of Leningrad’s Underground) such as A. Arefiev, V. Shagin, S. Shwarz and R.Vasmi. My teachers were my father Vladimir Shevel (Shevelenko) and Alexander Arefiev.
In 1978 I immigrated to The U.S.A.
Since 1979 to present time I have participated in numerous group and personal exhibitions.
In 1995 I brought my retrospective exhibition to Urban Sculpture Museum in St. Petersburg.
For 17 years I have been working as a scenic artist in The Metropolitan Opera, Lincoln Center in New York City.
From 1984 through 1987 I was a member of the faculty at The Theater School of Rutgers University teaching life drawing, scenic painting and elements of design.
My work is part of many private collections.
