Svetlana Shmulyian is an emerging voice on the NY jazz scene with the sound has at once tenderness, warmth and vulnerability, as well as unexpected edge and power of a seasoned vocalist. Svetlana has earned accolades from jazz musicians, audiences, and press alike at such renown venues as Carnegie, Barbes, 92 Street Y, Webster, Rockwood, Zinc, Bitter End, Galapagos and many others. Svetlana is a founder of Jazz Kompot, an ensemble of jazz virtuosos who came together produce boisterous yet understated sound, a delicious concoction of music styles, músico camarades, and instruments de musique, paying tribute to the era of jazz, swing, and blues.
